12 Mar 2015 Introducing our marketing manager for Camp Jabulani & HESC, Mari Theunissen
Mari Theunissen completed her high school education with merit in 2003 at Hoërskool Waterkloof located in Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa. Between 2004 and 2006 she successfully obtained her degree in B.A. Communications at the University of North-West (NWU) in Potchefstroom (North West, South Africa). Over the course of the following year she pursued her post-graduate education at the NWU, and graduated with an Honours degree in English – with Journalism as Capita Selecta in 2007.
Mari has always loved travelling, and on completion of her 4-year degree she left South Africa and travelled to the UK where she worked at a small traditional hotel located next to the magnificent Loch Tummel in Tummel Bridge, Scotland. Over the next two years, while based in Scotland, she travelled extensively to parts of Europe, the United Kingdom and countries in South East Asia.
“Travelling and working abroad expanded and enhanced my perspective in both fields of international communication and media relations relating to diverse cultures” says Mari.
Upon returning to South Africa in January 2010, filled with passion to pursue a career in tourism, Mari commenced her career in April 2010 at the Head Office of Camp Jabulani and the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre (located in Hoedspruit, Limpopo Province, South Africa). Understanding the special intimate experience that guests receive when staying at a small property fit right in with the personalised, tailor-made experiences offered at Camp Jabulani.
Initially starting as assistant to Adine Roode in 2010, Mari became involved in the marketing of both companies and was promoted to Marketing Assistant. From early 2012, Mari took on the role of Marketing Representative, representing Camp Jabulani and the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre (HESC) in Australia and New Zealand, travelling both locally and internationally on several occasions.
With the new business structure of the companies, Mari was promoted to Marketing Manager for Camp Jabulani and the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre. Adine Roode says, “I am extremely proud of Mari. She is such a hard worker and although I will miss her as my right hand, I am sure she will add more value to the business in this capacity”.
Best of luck to you Mari. We wish you success and prosperity in your new position.
